Starting a boring task feels impossible? It’s not laziness
Originally in Brazilian Portuguese, with English audio and subtitles.
Transcript
Why does starting a boring task feel impossible? It’s not laziness. Brain scans found differences in the dopamine system of the ADHD brain, right in the part tied to reward. And dopamine helps the brain feel that a task is worth the effort. A boring task with no quick reward doesn’t give that push.
That’s why novelty, music, deadlines and a treat at the end help so much. Your brain isn’t lazy: it just needs a stronger reason to switch on. What makes a boring task less boring for you?
