Can’t focus, but game for 6 hours? That’s hyperfocus
Originally in Brazilian Portuguese, with English audio and subtitles.
Transcript
Can’t focus on anything, but spent six hours on a game without blinking? That has a name: hyperfocus. For many people with ADHD, the hard part isn’t having attention: it’s choosing where it goes. When something is interesting, new or urgent, attention sticks, and the rest of the world disappears.
A study of over six hundred adults found: the more ADHD symptoms, the more hyperfocus. It can get a lot done, and it can also swallow lunch, sleep and appointments. One tip: before you dive in, set an alarm to come back up. What was your last hyperfocus?
